Government Meetings Streamlined and Automated with SIRE Technologies
Las Vegas, NV— Clark County, Nevada, will soon be benefiting from the premiere content management and agenda management solutions offered by SIRE Technologies and Granicus. Clark, the sixteenth most populated county in the United States, has contracted with SIRE to implement the county-wide solution.
Each department in the county will be using SIRE Agenda Plus™ which will streamline workflow and automate processes such as agenda packet creation and posting of agendas and supporting documents directly to the Internet. Using SIRE will also dramatically reduce the time and effort required to prepare and distribute documents throughout the county and to the public, ultimately saving tax-payer funds. The county board will also use the system to vote on legislation and automatically count the votes, eliminating the need for tedious, time-consuming recounts.
“Our goal with this project is to make our agenda process more efficient and effective. This solution will replace our outdated voting system, speed up creation of meeting minutes, provide video streaming and enable internal staff and the public to easily search and retrieve agenda documents and materials over the Web,” said Andrew Newell, Clark County applications supervisor and project manager. “An enormous amount of time and energy is spent preparing agendas for our bi-monthly Commissioner meetings. In fact, due to the scale of the meetings, it sometimes took three weeks or more to prepare and finalize meeting minutes for everyone; our objective with the new software from SIRE and its partner Granicus is to bring that down to a few days.”
Clerks in the city of Las Vegas began using a similar SIRE solution over a year ago and Clark County official’s plan to build upon the success they have witnessed at the city level and create a more expansive implementation for use throughout the county. They will look to SIRE to enhance pre-meeting activities such as agenda creation; meeting activities including taking minutes of the meeting; and post-meeting activities such as posting agendas with attachments, summaries, minutes and posting video to the Web. Posting agendas to the Internet for easy public access will eliminate most need for hard-copy agendas and save millions of sheets of paper over time.
“Clark County is simplifying their legislative management in all aspects by using the technology we and our partners provide,” said Kris Painter, president of SIRE Technologies. “Tax-payers will also appreciate the improved efficiency because the county will spend fewer tax dollars on processes and procedures that were previously nothing short of resource-sapping.”
